10+ Easy Earth Day Writing Prompts to Celebrate Our Planet (& Have a Little Fun)
Celebrate Earth with these engaging writing prompts. BONUS: Get Earth Day writing prompts in a free digital download.
First held on April 22, 1970, Earth Day is a chance to learn about this amazing planet and how we can better care for it.
As homeschool parents, it’s also an easy way to add some fun science to our days. Science writing is a unique skill. Writing too technically makes it difficult for the average reader. But bringing it down to an easy read may mean that you leave out important details.
These Earth Day writing prompts introduce your kiddos to the art of writing about science but at a very introductory level. Using the writing skills you’ve already taught them, they can supercharge their writing with a splash of science.

Writing prompts don’t replace your usual writing program & they don’t have to take up much time. If we are short on time, I set the timer for 5 minutes. We usually write for about 10 minutes, but there’s value in learning to write a complete paragraph in a shorter time. And there’s value in learning to accept leaving a writing assignment left unfinished, too.
