You Can Easily Homeschool in the Kitchen

Homeschooling does not need to happen at a desk or with open books around your dining room table. I know that sounds crazy but, hear me out. One of the easiest ways to homeschool is to get your kids involved in hands-on things. The best place for that to happen is in the kitchen! When you homeschool in the kitchen you are able to teach multiple subjects all at one time. Don’t worry it isn’t as complicated as you may think!

Tips for how you can easily homeschool in the kitchen:

Reading – you have to read a recipe to ensure that it is followed correctly

Science – cooking and baking are full of chemical reactions, i.e. baking soda causes flour to rise

Math – measuring ingredients, counting cups, weighing everything out, yep! It is all math

Social studies – grab a recipe from another nation and learn about their heritage through your taste buds

Most of those things seem to be obvious, but there may be other ways you can use your kitchen as an educational tool that you probably haven’t thought of. I have a few!

Home-ec – you guessed it! Have your children help clean up the mess you made while cooking and you have added in home-ec to your homeschool day
